Aim: Release learning items based on certain criteria
Why: to create an experience more tailored to the needs of the individual learners
How: Blackboard has a function known as ‘adaptive release’ which allows you to release an item based on certain conditions such as
- date
- group membership
- grade on another item
- review status of another item
This means you can release different content to different students quite easily. To give a very simple example, adaptive release allows you to set it up so that if you have a test on unit 1, students who pass see unit 2 while students who fail must revise unit 1 again.
