Robert J. Beichner’s SCALE-UP project started at North Carolina State University but the design is now replicated in many classrooms across the United States and more recently in the UK. The SCALE-UP space is designed to facilitate a flipped classroom,originally of a physics course, but it is now used for undergraduate teaching of many different disciplines.
With lab equipment, writable surfaces and digital displays for student devices; students use the knowledge that have learned in preparation for the class at home or elsewhere, applying it at group projects and labs within the class.
