The Architecture Factory at Cork Institute of Technology was opened in 2013 and is the hub on campus for CIT Architecture staff and students. An innovative, bright and open space, the factory is centered around six lime green, recycled shipping containers which serve as offices in and around the open plan design studios, with classrooms also incorporated into the deign.
The space is commonly used for teaching, collaborating, designing and showcasing the work carried out by Architecture staff and students. The classrooms incorporate flexible and collaborative style seating to promote engagement and exploratory design and learning in class.
Within the open plan Architecture Factory space, there is an IT lab which can be accessed by all students on the courses. Similarly, the open plan studio arrangement facilitates interaction between students at all levels of the Interior Architecture and Architectural Technology disciplines.
